Four local boys drowned in an incident followed by the flash floods due to the heavy rains lashed in Tirupati on Sunday. The police officials informed that the boys went for a swim in one of the ponds linked by cascading waters on the hills where the cave temple of Lord Kapileswara is located.
However, the sudden force of water gushing into the pond led to the boys falling into a lower pond from a height of 500 feet drowning the four boys. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each to the bereaved families.
