The Andhra Pradesh government is open to anyone submitting a plan for construction and development of the Capital city under the Swiss Challenge mode.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who chaired the four-hour Cabinet meeting in Rajahmundry on Wednesday, is understood to have said that proposals were welcome from experienced and competent developers from Singapore, Japan, China or any other country, and that they would be considered under the Swiss Challenge method.
This was the second meeting of the State Cabinet outside Hyderabad. The first meeting was held in Visakhapatnam after the State Council of Ministers took oath. Mr. Naidu also announced his resolve to shift administration to Vijayawada, facilitating easy access to people, as they do not have to travel to Hyderabad. But, the government has preferred to take up the process in phases, as it has to put in place facilities for housing and other infrastructure before asking the staff to move.
The Cabinet also discussed the assault on MRO Vanajakshi by the supporters of TDP MLA Ch. Prabhakar, as the Human Rights Commission took cognisance of the incident . Mr. Naidu is learnt to have said that both the officer and the MLA ought to have shown restraint.
Sources said a majority of Ministers felt that the officer went beyond her jurisdiction.
