Asian Games: India beat South Korea 1-0 to enter hockey final
India beat South Korea 1-0 in their semi final encounter to fix at least a Gold or Silver medal for the Indian Hockey team in the men’s competition. The two sides were evenly matched for most of the game until a reverse flick from Akashdeep Singh ended up beating the Korean Goalkeeper in the 44th minute at the Seonhak Hockey Stadium.
The two teams were on the attack consistently, but it was the Indian team that dominated the proceedings for most of the first 3 quarters. They created chances on a regular basis, although the execution and the finishing remained a problem for most part of the game. Atleast 7 easy chanced went begging by the Indian Strikers, but none were converted in a goal. Akashdeep finally managed to score when he instinctively reverse flicked a pass from mid field into the goal, A goal that eventually proved to be the difference between the 2 teams.
The last half though saw the Indians struggling with the defense as the Korean team gave it their all in order to level up with the Indians. They almost scored once in the 58th minute, but the Indian goalkeeper managed to keep the shit and the eventual penalty corner, winning India the game 1-0.
India await the winner of second semifinal played between Pakistan and Malaysia.
