Drunken driving by a techie in Gachibowli killed another techie family in the IT corridor. A Deloitte HR manager and his speeding Skoda Octavia car loaded with liquor, girls and loud music killed a 36-year-old woman software engineer and seriously injured her husband in Gachibowli on Thursday night.
The victim, Soni Ramchandani, engineer with Infosys, travelling with her husband Harish and four-year-old son Moksha on a two-wheeler was mowed down on Thursday night at ORR near Gachibowli when a speeding Skoda Octavia car jumped the red light and knocked down the Ramchandani family and few others and tried to speed away.
Soni, Harish and their child were rushed to the nearby Himagiri Hospital where the Infosys engineer succumbed to her injuries in the wee hours of Friday. The husband is battling for life while their child escaped with minor injuries.
Police said that the Skoda owner Shethab Kumar, HR Manager with Deloitte along with four other girls was partying on the move when the accident occurred Shethab and his five interns were on a drive on the Outer Ring Road and were partying with beer and loud music.
Eyewitnesses said the Skoda car was overtaking vehicles at a high speed and was touching over 100 kmph when it hit the two-wheeler and due to the impact, Soni flew in the air. Shethab, a resident of Dundigul, abandoned the vehicle at the accident spot and is absconding. The five interns have been detained for questioning, Gachibowli sub inspector Venkatesh said.
A hunt is on for Shethab. The Police registered a case under 304 A (rash and negligent driving) of the IPC but had no response as to why the case was hushed up for 24 hours.
