HYDERABAD: Over 12,000 job-seekers have registered their names for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) job mela to be conducted at Banjara Fuction Hall in Banjara Hills in the city on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Mayor Mohd Majid Hussain said the job mela would be conducted for about 7,300 non-IT job-seekers. A separate job mela would be conducted exclusively for 5,400 IT job-seekers, who have registered with the corporation till now, in January, 2013, he added. The mayor said there was tremendous response to the job mela though they sought applications through online registration. The applications were divided into four categories, Class-V to X, Class-X to Intermediate, Intermediate and Graduation and post-graduation and professional courses for scrutiny and other purposes.
Majid Hussain said over 50 employers are likely to participate in the job mela that starts from 8 am and all arrangements have been made by the corporation. He said in the job mela conducted four months ago in the Old City, 4,500 youth turned up, but only 1,198 got jobs.
"Many people were rejected mainly due to lack of communication and other skills. The rejected candidates will be given training by the GHMC apart from MPEMA," the mayor said.
