The way Lord Buddha statue was installed in the Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad, AP government is also reported to be planning to install a huge statue of late NTR statue in the Krishna River facing the proposed capital city.

Inspired with the idea, of B. Tech student Dharmateja of Rajhamundry has designed a picture for this purpose, but he is proposing to install in Godavari River between Rajhamundry and Kovvur, instead of in Krishna River. However, state government has not made up its mind whether to install the statue or not as it may draw criticism from opposition parties and objections from the courts.

No doubt, people of Andhra Pradesh would appreciate the state government’s idea. But, it may lead to a new tradition and unhealthy competition for political parties. Already political parties are filling the roads and parks by installing their leaders’ statues. If, TDP government installs late NTR statue in the Godavari River now, later YSR Congress party also may plan to install late YSR statue in Krishna or some other river.

Later Congress leaders also may attempt to put their leaders’ statue in some other river. So, the state government should think twice before going ahead with this idea. Moreover, it’s not wise to think about such ideas in the prevailing situation of the state. Instead, if the state government introduces some educational or health scheme on the legendary actors’ name no one can raise an eye brow.
