Hyderabad: An arrest warrant against Managing Director of Suchirindia Infratech Pvt Ltd, Y Kiran Kumar, was issued by the Consumer Court for not complying with its order granting relief to a petitioner. A prospective buyer, P Suresh Chandra, responding to the advertisement of Suchirindia, booked a villa in ‘Odyssey’ situated at Yanampet of Ghatkeshwar in Ranga Reddy district for a total consideration of Rs 25 lakh. He paid an advance of Rs 4,60,500 in November 2011.
Since there was no progress with regard to the construction of the proposed villa, Suresh Chandra made his own inquiries. He was shocked to find that the company did not get any layout approvals from the HMDA. But it made the public believe through the advertisements that the project was being grounded with all the required approvals.
After realizing that he has been taken for a ride, Suresh Chandra tried to recover the advance amount he had paid but in vain. He then moved the Consumer Court and filed a case against the company in CC 582 of 2012. The company contested the matter.
The Consumer Forum allowed the case of the petitioner on May 16, 2014 and ordered Suchirindia to return the advance with interest at 12 per cent per annum, compensation of Rs 25,000 and costs of Rs 5000. The Consumer Forum gave the company 30 days time to comply with its order.
However when the company did not comply with the orders, the petitioner filed EA 47 of 2014 for taking necessary action against the Managing Director of the company. The Forum then ordered for issuing an arrest warrant against the MD of Suchirindia on January 22 is pending with the Jubilee Hills Police Station. Some persons who have also allegedly become victims of the company are planning to seek judicial remedy.
