Anguluru village demolished,Polavaram canal
Angaluru(EG): As the Government has given green signal to use force on the Polavaram project-affected victims , the police on Tuesday demolished the houses at the Anguluru village in Devipatnam Manadalam of East Godavari district with the help of the dismantling staff.
As the demolition began, the enraged villagers argued with officials and the police resulting in tension since morning.
The village has 71 houses and the then government paid compensation at the rate of Rs.1.55 lakh per house and Rs.1.10 lakh per acre to the villagers in 2008.
The affected villagers refused to leave the village seeking more compensation and continued to live in their houses all these years.
The villagers have been seeking a new and revised package for compensation as per the increased rates of houses and lands. But the government refused to do so.
The proposed Polavaram project right canal is designed in such a manner that it would pass through the village.
