3,650 police constables are to be recruited by the Telangana Cabinet to strengthen security in the state. The proposal came in wake of the death of Siddaiah, sub-inspector of police of Atmakur, who fought valiantly with the terrorists two days back. With the state witnessing two major encounters in a span of three days, the decision was taken to increase the security in Telangana.
Also, the ex gratia has been increased from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 40 lakh to the families of the police constables, lower cadre officers who lost their lives in terrorist violence.
According to the sources, a Cabinet sub-committee that is headed by Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy was formed to allot the quantum of money to the families of those killed and who were injured in incidents of terrorist violence. The Cabinet also cleared decisions to release concession arrears of nearly Rs 7.19 crore to weavers of Siricilla, subsidy on powerlooms to continue for next five years and 14 kuntas of land acquirement at Bahadurpally to set up a power substation.
