Ongole: A depositor in Agri Gold compnay, Lingala Satyanarayana Chary (42), met with a tragic death on Tuesday following rumours that the firm had defaulted on repayment. He died of a heart attack in his house at Gurujepalli village under Yerragondaplaem mandal in Prakasam district. He breathed his last while clutching post-dated cheque in his hand.

According to Chary’s family members, he had deposited Rs 40,000 of his hard-earned money in the company on the promise that he would get Rs 72,900 on maturity. His deposit matured in December last year itself. The company gave a post-dated cheque to be drawn on February 19 this year.

Following rumours that the Agri Gold had cheated customers, he suffered mental anguish, fearing that he would lose his hard-earned money which he saved in the company for his daughter’s marriage. Chary is survived by five daughters and physically-challenged wife. Meanwhile, one more person, Sudhakar, who mobilised Rs 30 lakh for the company, died of a heart attack at Vemavaram village in Prakasam district after the cheque he was issued bounced.
