Amit Shah and Mamata Banerjee battle reaches Parliament

New Delhi: Stung by the probe into the Saradha scam, which has seen arrest of its leaders, the Trinamul on Monday sought to turn the heat on the BJP in Parliament by alleging that a diary of jailed Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy contains the name of a senior BJP leader.

Displaying red diaries which had Sahara written on it, the TMC MPs rushed to the well in Lok Sabha shouting slogans against the BJP leader alleging that the diary contains his name.

They demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should explain what action CBI has taken after the name allegedly figured in the diary. However, when the Speaker allowed continuing the House amid the din, the TMC MPs staged a walkout.

Parliamentary affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said rules do not permit any member naming anyone who is not a member of the House. They also cannot display placards, he said. Later, BJP member Kirit Somaiya also hit back.
