AP Cabinet sub-committee to identify land for capital

Vijayawada: The Cabinet sub-committee on land pooling for capital is set to visit the villages of Amaravathi and Thulluru mandals on November 1 to hold talks with the farmers. The committee, headed by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P Narayana, will visit these villages to identify the lands to be acquired for the capital. The government has proposed to acquire around 30,000 acres of land in the first phase.

The Minister is scheduled to visit Neerukonda, Nidamarru, Nekkallu, Borupalem, Mandadam, Malkapuram, Rayapudi, Uddandarayapalem, Dondapadu, Thulluru, Nelapadu, Mugalingayapalem, Lingayapalem, Abburajapalem, Sakhamuru, Elakapudi and Kuragallu villages. The members of the sub-committee will go round the villages and hold talks with the farmers on land pooling.

The officials have already alerted the people and farmers of 17 villages. The officials have listed Undavalli, Penumaka, Mandadam, The officials have proposed that the members of the sub-committee visit Dondapadu, Velagapudi, Venkatayapalem, Krishnayapalem, Vaikuntapuram, Harischandrapuram, Thulluru, Lingapuram, Malkapuram, Koppuravuru, Mukkamala, Karlapudi, Mothadaka and Bejathapuram.

While the confusion over the actual location of the capital continues, farmers are demanding that the government give clarity on the quantum of compensation for land to be acquired. The government has initially proposed 60:40 ratio for the farmers after the land is developed. In such a case, a farmer who gives one acre of his land would get around 1,100 square yards of land as his share from the government. The farmers are not willing to part with their land and they are in a combative mood to resist forcible acquisition of land, if it happens.
