Union government decides to allocate 304 MW of power to AP and 222 MW to TS from April 1 onwards.
Hyderabad: It is good news for both Telugu speaking States particularly Telangana on power front. The Union government has decided to allocate 304 MW of power to Andhra Pradesh and 222 MW of power to Telangana from April 1 onwards. This is a big relief to the Telangana government which is aiming to supply uninterrupted power during the peak summer season.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao himself stated in the Assembly that his administration would procure additional power from Kerala and other States to ensure that consumers did not face power woes in the coming months. With Centre pitching in now, Rao is heaving a big sigh of relief.
It has been decided to allocate 693 MW to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala keeping in view the surrendered share by the Delhi government from Thermal Power Plant in Jhajjar, Haryana, according to a note written to Central Electricity Authority by Power Ministry.
This will be implemented till the end of September. However, this additional 693 MW of power will be shared only between Telangana (374 MW) and Kerala (319 MW) from October, 2015 till March, 2016.
The Central Electricity Authority was directed to implement these re-allocation orders from the stipulated date.
