A complaint has been filed against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu by the Telangana Advocates’ Joint Action Committee on Saturday for the AP Chief Minister’s attempts to buy a phone tapping equipment.
While the complainant Advocate Govardhan Reddy, alleged that AP government was trying to spy on Telangana State, the West Zone police informed that no case was booked as action will be taken once a legal opinion is sought on the petition. Based on an email between a foreign firm and a Hyderabad-based private firm that indicated attempts of AP police to buy phone tapping hardware from an Italian hacking firm, the complaint was filed.
The email sent on June 12 was leaked by Wikileaks stated that the cellular interception hardware was required for AP Police Intelligence Wing and the conversation implied that the company officials were visiting Hyderabad to give a demo of the hardware and finalise the deal on July 6. However, the allegations were denied by the Andhra Pradesh government.
