Farmers of Vizianagaram are protesting against the proposal for a Greenfield airport near Bhogapuram. They don't want to give their fertile lands which are their only livelihood option and protested that airport would destroy their lands.

Hundreds of farmers staged a protest before the tahsildar office at Bhogapuram. Raising slogans and holding placards against the government, they demanded shifting of the proposal to some other area.

The activists displayed scientific data on how fertile land would be taken away for the Greenfield project by private operators and it could destroy the ecology and bio-diversity of the region which is abetted by shallow swamps and dense forests.
