The Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) that replaced the traditional system of evaluation of the SSC examinations this academic year has its say over the results. The overall pass percentage witnessed a drop by about 8.21 per cent compared to the last year's result encompassing the 10 districts of Telangana. The transformation from the earlier mode of examination, which essentially used to test the students’ skills to memorise and reproduce textbook content, to the CCE was not all that easy as the new system included a school-based and teacher-conducted continuous assessment. The idea is to integrate assessment with teaching-learning both inside and outside the classrooms.

Of the total 5,13,473 students appeared for the exam in this academic year (2014-15), 3,98,267 students passed the examination. Once again girls outperformed boys, as out of the 2,55,035 girls, 2,01,582 (79.04 per cent) passed the exam, while out of the 2,58,438 boys 1,96,685 (76.11 per cent) passed. While Warangal district stayed on top with 91.6 per cent pass in the State, repeating its last year performance, Adilabad kept its dubious record of finishing last again this year with 54.9 per cent pass. The district-wise results are: Warangal 91.6 per cent, Mahbubnagar 88, Medak 87, Nalgonda 83.9, Nizamabad 82, Karimnagar 80.8, Khammam 78, Rangareddy 70.1, Hyderabad 64.8 and Adilabad 54.9.

Students of Rangareddy and Warangal districts finished close with 0.54 and 0.53 percentages respectively in securing the 10 Grade Point Average. Meanwhile, Telangana State Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSREI) secured the highest pass percentage with 92.99, while the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions (TSWREIS) stayed second by registering a pass percentage of 87.82. The government schools fared badly with 63.39 per cent. Out of the results of 10 districts result of TSWREIS institutions, Warangal district stands on top with 97.53 per cent pass and Nalgonda district stands second with 96.99 per cent result.

Out of the 120 TSWREIS schools, 27 schools got 100 per cent results. Among the 72 Tribal Welfare schools only nine secured 100 per cent pass. While nine out of the 1,015 government schools secured zero pass percentage, 99 schools secured 100 per cent results. Declaring the results, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, who holds the portfolio of education, on Sunday, attributed the slide which the State registered 77.56 pass percentage to the CCE. Further, he added that the new system could well be handy in improving the educational standards of the students.
