Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar,AP Revenue Services Association,Vanajakshi,DWCRA members attacks a Tahsildar,
“We strongly condemn Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar and his supporters attack on Ms. Vanajakshi, who was performing her duties at Rangampeta on Wednesday,” said AP Revenue Services Association district unit members.
Addressing after a meeting at the Sub-Collector’s office here, APRSA leaders said it was an attack on a government official and also on a woman. We will not relent until government fulfils our demands,” said APRSA Krishna unit president Ch.V. Chandrasekhar.
He said revenue employees’ toil hard whenever a new scheme is launched by government but there is no security to the officials. Mr. Prabhakar along with four DWCRA members attacks a Tahsildar, MRI and others and a gunman snatches mobile phone and threatens of dire consequences and yet the police officials, who arrived at the spot stand as mute spectators.
This is deplorable and would approach Human Rights Commission and if need be court for justice, said APRSA State vice-president K. Anil Jennyson.
“If the government fails to address the issue, we will decide the future course of action after conducting a State Association meeting on Friday evening,” said Mr. Jennyson.
Case registered
Following a complaint by Vanajakshi, the Musunuru police have registered a case against Mr. Prabhakar, his gunmen and six other DWCRA women under IPC sections 353, 332 and 379 read with 34.
On the other hand, a few DWCRA women in West Godavari staged demonstrations at Collector’s office demanding action against Musunuru Tahsildar alleging high-handed behaviour by the official and other staff members. Further a complaint was also lodged against Musunuru Tahsildar under IPC sections 356, 723, 324 readwith 34 with the Pedavegi Police station in West Godavari district.
Why was the Tahsildar attacked
It all happened on Wednesday, when Musunuru Tahsildar Vanjakshi rushed to Rangampeta in the Musunuru mandal following a phone call about illegal sand mining at Tammileru stream in the village by few persons.
The stream divides Krishna and West Godavari districts. According to revenue officials, sand mining is permitted only on the Denduluru side in West Godavari while mining from Krishna end is not allowed. The women workers allegedly entered into the Krishna territory and started mining sand, which is illegal.
When the Tahsildar tried to prevent the women workers, Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar and his supporters allegedly abused and attacked the Tahsildar and couple of other staff members, resulting in minor injuries.
“I was abused and pushed aside holding by my neck,” said Ms.Vanajakshi. The MLA reportedly came to the spot at the behest of the DWCRA group members.
Ongole Staff Reporter adds: Members of the Andhra Pradesh Revenue Services Association began a ''work to rule'' agitation on Thursday evening, demanding the arrest of Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar for allegedly manhandling Musunuru Tehsildar Vanajakshi while discharging her duties.
District Revenue Officer Noor Basha Qasim and Revenue Division Officer K.Srinivasa Rao expressed solidarity with the agitators who staged a dharna in-front of the Collector shouting slogans against alleged increase in political interference in their functioning.
Leading the protest, APRSA District President K.L.Narasimha Rao demanded the disqualification of the MLA and action against those responsible for the attack on the Tehsildar who had tried to prevent illegal transportation of sand.
