Hyderabad: Has Jana Sena President and actor Pawan Kalyan emerged as a third alternative in the political landscape of AP posing a threat to the mass base of YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy?
Observers think this is the emerging possibility as Jagan Mohan Reddy has failed to make use of the discontent that prevailed among majority farmers over the land pooling while the pooling policy was being implemented.
He had obviously chosen to tour the capital city villages and meet the farmers only after the land pooling came to an end officially.
What prevented him from visiting the villages and meet the farmers while the Government was pooling the land to build the capital city? Is it the threat of arrests by ED or CBI again?
Observers feel that the grand spectacle of people running after the YSRCP Chief during his Odarpu Yatra or the massive response he received before the elections was nowhere to be seen during his belated visit to the capital villages.
In fact, there was no change in the political atmosphere before and after the visit of Jagan Mohan Reddy to the villages. He failed to cause embarrassment to the Government through his visit.
In comparison, Pawan Kalyan's visit had given some anxious moments to the TDP provoking an immediate response from CM Chandrababu Naidu to the actor's comments. He succeeded to some extent in pushing to the wall the TDP government over the land pooling.
Everyone is waiting for some concrete action from Jagan Mohan Reddy to face the challenge being thrown by Pawan Kalyan. If he fails to act, he is bound to lose his ground and mass base to the actor sooner than later.
