Hyderabad: Speculations are rife that former MLA and veteran actress Jayasudha Kapoor is all set to join the TRS by the end of this month. Jayasudha said she would join the ruling TRS, if invited. “So far I have not received any invitation,” she said.

However, sources in the TRS say that the party will take a final decision in this regard and admit her into the party more as a strategic move in view of the GHMC elections. It may be recalled that Jayasudha represented the Secunderabad Assembly constituency, which has a sizeable number of Christian population.   

The very fact that KCR attended an audio release function of the film Basti on Sunday in which Jayasudha’s son acted and her gesture of touching the feet of KCR, the TPCC leaders feel that her exit from the Congress is now a certainty. Jayasudha, being the in-charge of the Secunderabad constituency, has been facing challenge at the local level, particularly from the family of former Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy.  Both have been at loggerheads in the past as well.

The differences between the two women leaders were so intense that the TPCC had even differed holding the constituency-level meeting of the Congress as part of GHMC elections in Secunderabad. Jayasudha, who has been keeping distance from the Congress after the General Election, has completely lost contact with the top leaders during the recent months. She did not even attend the party programmes, including  Rahul Gandhi’s padayatra.
