Lokesh Begins to Call the Shots in the Party

Signaling the commencement of his active involvement in the party affairs, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s son Lokesh  participated in the maiden meeting organised by his father to bring coordination between party and the state government.

The young politico, who is said to be preparing for a bigger role in the party, reportedly not only appraised the performance of the government by quoting some internal surveys of the party on its welfare schemes but also gave some suggestions to the government on issues relating to people.

According to party sources, Lokesh asked the government to extend the loan waiver scheme benefit even to the remaining 2 lakh farmers across the state, whose bank accounts had been made invalid because of technical reasons by the government. In this context, he brushed aside objections from some government advisors present at the meeting.  Following this, Naidu asked the loan waiver panel to positively consider the advice of the young politico and find a middle path.

During the day-long meeting with ministers, TDP MLAs and senior leaders, chaired by the CM at the Lake View Guest House here, Lokesh is learnt to have clearly sent a signal to the party leaders that he would be calling the shots in the party in the near future. The young politico reportedly even suggested the next meeting’s agenda and set targets for the party leaders on creating awareness among people on the welfare schemes of the state government.

The sources said that during the meeting, the young politico cited the findings of various internal surveys of the party, which were conducted at his behest, to know the pulse of the commoners on the welfare schemes.

According to his survey reports, while 60 per cent of the farmers were satisfied with the implementation of the crop loan waiver scheme whereas the remaining 40 per cent were unhappy. With regard to the disbursement of enhanced pension amounts to old-aged people and others, as many as 90 per cent beneficiaries had expressed satisfaction.

Similarly, over 85 per cent people of the State had expressed satisfaction over the power supply situation and 85 per cent of the people were happy with the announcement of the Chandranna Sankranti” Gift Hamper for  the white card-holders.  Naidu assured his party leaders that government would take corrective measures to rectify all the loopholes in the government schemes.
