Vijayawada: Union minister and BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said he too played a key role in carving out of Telangana State.
Naidu said those who opposed Telangana, never changed their opinion. Venkaiah was speaking at a function organized in connection with Polavaram project at Gateway.
Supporting the role of BJP in bifurcation of the State, the Union minister said there will be no loss even one per cent to Telangana due to Polavaram project. “We can release 80 tmc of water from Godavari into Krishna river and “if we succeed in protecting and diverting flood water, Rayalaseema would get 45 tmc of water and water would be available for irrigation of 16 lakh acres, he said, adding that waste water can be utilized by connecting rivers.
Venkaiah Naidu said 154 revenue villages and nine mandals would be affected due to Polavaram project. It is natural that some people have to face problems when we think about the welfare of majority people, he said.
