Hyderabad: A dead former OGH doctor’s son became a chain snatcher to fund his lavish lifestyle and attacked around 100 people in the last few years.West Zone police arrested the snatcher Mohammed Faisal Shah Ali Jabri, 28, from Asifnagar on Saturday and recovered 800 grams of gold ornaments.
Faisal, whose brother is also a doctor, had dropped out during Intermediate and started committing petty offences, said West Zone DCP A. Venkateswara Rao.Police officials said that Faisal was a womaniser and had spent a huge amount of money for that.
Faisal’s father, who was working in OGH, had died some months ago, and his family had expelled Faisal from their house due to his criminal background. “His family is rich as his brother is a doctor. His three sisters are in Dubai. However, he started with petty thefts in 2009, and emerged as a wanted chain snatcher,” said a police official.
Faisal first started stealing mobile phones and slowly become a chain snatcher. “He is involved in 102 snatching cases in Hyderabad and four in Cyberabad. He was sent to jail four times in snatching cases. After he was released on March 6 this year he started chain snatching again. He attacked 22 victims most of them old women,” said Mr Venkateswara Rao.Faisal usually moves alone on his pulsar bike and targets victims in lonely areas. He also keeps a knife for use if the situation demands it, police said.
