Prathyusha suffers from breathlessness,Nineteen-year-old Pratyusha
Hyderabad: Doctors treating Prathyusha, the teenager rescued from LB Nagar recently, reported that she was having slight difficulty in breathing as on Friday. “The girl is facing difficulty breathing as there is fluid in the right side of the pleural cavity, space within which the lung grows. There is a lot of respiratory distress. There is a fracture in the fifth rib on the right side. The pleural fluid might need draining and we will take a call on it on Saturday,” said Dr N. Ravindra, of Aware Global Hospitals.
Apart from this, doctors have found several soft tissue damages. A team of 10 doctors are working to provide relief to the battered girl, according to Mr Sharath, media representative from the hospital. “The soft tissues in the sacral region, bottom of spine, have swellings. There are corrosive burns in the oral cavities of the girl proving that she was forced to consume corrosive substances. There is a blood clot (hematoma) in the right shoulder area, there’s left hand dorsum swelling, multiple cut wounds and scars, scabs, mild ascites i.e. accumulation of fluid in abdominal cavity, bilateral feet swelling, bilateral ear discharge (pus) and fever,” Dr Ravindra added.
Presently Pratyusha is in ICU being treated with IV antibiotics, IV fluids, PPIs, blood transfusions and other supportive treatment. The medical team treating her stated that she requires further hospital stay, investigations and physiotherapy care to recoup her tissues from musculoskeletal injuries.
“Currently, the hospital is taking care of the expenses, but government intervention might be required to provide sustained support to the girl. She requires prolonged care for at least a year at some rehabilitation centre as the doctors have suggested,” said Mr Achyuta Rao, member of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
Nineteen-year-old Pratyusha, who had been tortured by her father and stepmother, was admitted at the Aware Global Hospitals two days ago. LB Nagar police is yet to arrest Ramesh, her father, who is absconding. “We are trying to trace him. His mobile is switched off and he has not made any bank transactions,” an investigation officer said.
