Hyderabad: Telugu Desam deputy floor leader Revanth Reddy seems to have escaped ‘axe’ against his membership ostensibly in the last moment of budget session on November 29, as the TRS leadership abstained from taking such a stringent action.
Though, a section of media was abuzz that ‘axe’ may fall on Revanth Reddy, who may face suspension from Assembly for one year if not two on Friday evening after the House adjourned, the TRS leadership reportedly taken a reverse turn in this regard. As the House could conduct business for 19 days and given ample chance to all the members, the TRS leadership said to have withdrew its decision to suspend Revanth Reddy from the Assembly, it is learnt. With an intention to establish a good tradition in the Assembly, the TRS did not initiate action against the TD member as it would invite criticism of political vengeance besides inviting wrath from people, it is learnt.
It is pertinent to note that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reprimanded the TD leader for his alleged allegations against TRS MP Kavitha’s dual membership, baseless remarks on DLF land deal and ridiculing a TRS member to lick the shoes of the Chief Minister. At a time when the CM lost his cool in the House and reproached Revanth Reddy, while the TRS members sought an apology to speak further. Literally the TRS denied mike to Revanth as he failed to apologize on his remarks.
TDP floor leader Erraballi Dayakar Rao and others made a vain bid with the Speaker to protect their right to speak in the House. On Friday, Dayakar also sought the Speaker to take action against Revanth if he has violated the House proceedings. Earlier, the TD members were suspended for one week.
Feeling the pulses of the media, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao denied that they have banned Revanth Reddy from attending the Assembly. “We have not imposed any sort of ‘ban’ on Revanth Reddy”, he said and sought to know from the media who informed him of such a decision. “We have asked the TD member to apologise for his comments on TRS MP, who was not in the House”, he said.
