Hyderabad: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has been taking up programmes to imbibe Indian and Hindu cultural values among the public.
City office bearers of RSS said on Wednesday that its cadres had already visited about 6,000 villages and taught 20 lakh families about Hindu cultural values. The Sangh also made it clear that the controversial Ghar Wapsi programme would continue as long as religious conversion went on.
Local office bearers said that hundreds of IT employees from the city were also joining the right wing organisation. RSS also warned the ruling TRS government against promoting MIM in the state. The Telangana wing of the RSS on Wednesday briefed the media about the resolutions adopted by the organisation during the recent annual general body meeting in Nagpur.
Telangana RSS joint secretary A. Chandrashekar said, “One of the resolutions adopted was to imbibe Indian cultural values among the youth. We have already reached about 6,000 villages and 20 lakh families in the state and told them about Hindu cultural values. Another resolution is to ensure there is no caste discrimination.”
Asked about the controversial Ghar Wapsi programme, Mr Chandrashekar said, “Ghar Wapsi will be there as long as conversions are there. It is a natural process. Both are related to each other and should be seen that way. We are only helping people get back to their original faith.”
He also said the TRS government shouldn’t encourage the MIM. “TRS government shouldn’t promote Majilis just for the vote bank. Owaisi brothers are barred from entering many states in the country,” the RSS functionary said.
He also said governments should ensure that at least primary education is imparted in a students’ mother tongue. He informed that they received about 35,000 requests every two months for joining the organisation. “About 800 to 1,000 of them are from Telangana,” he said.
