2014 General Election Results

Pallam Raju, Harsha Kumar lose elections

Union Minister for Human Resources Development M.M. Pallam Raju from Kakinada Parliamentary constituency, G.V. Harshakumar, a two-time MP from Amalapuram constituency, and Pinipe Viswaroop, former Minister in the Congress government and presently YSRC candidate from Amalapuram Lok Sabha constituency, have lost elections on Friday.

On the other hand, Thota Narasimham, who was Minister for stamps and registrations in N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Cabinet and then joined the Telugu Desam Party recently, won from Kakinada Lok Sabha seat defeating his young rival Chalamalasetty Sunil of the YSRC. Mr. Thota’s winning chances were bleak till the last one week of the polling date, but the trends suddenly changed after actor Pavan Kalyan’s meeting in Kakinada.

Senior TDP leader and the party general secretary Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary won the Rajahmundry Rural constituency with a majority of nearly 10,000 votes by defeating his nearest YSRC rival Akula Veerraju. Mr. Gorantla got the support from Kapu community leader and industrialist Rankireddy Subbaraju, an aspirant for the TDP ticket.

Gollapalli Suryarao, who worked as the Minister in the Congress government, had shifted his loyalty to the TDP about two years ago and he was first promised Amalapuram MP ticket. In the last minute, he was shifted to Razole S.C. Assembly constituency from where he won.

Thota Trimurthulu, who was with the Congress and won last by-elections in 2012 against his arch rival and YSRC Central Committee member Pilli Subashchandra Bose, again won from Ramachandrapuram Assembly Constituency on the TDP ticket. He joined the party recently.
