Police all set to Arrest MP Lagadapati Rajagopal
Vijayawada: Police set the stage for the arrest of Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal who is preparing to start his ‘Kanu Vippu Yatra’ as a counter to the TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu’s ‘Vastunnaa Meekosam’ Pada Yatra, entering the Krishna district on Monday.
The MP said he would welcome the opposition leader with a garland and try to open his eyes on the Telangana issue by submitting a memorandum. A heavy police posse was posted at the residence of Lagadapati in Anumanchipalle. They have already arrested some Congress leaders. When they tried to arrest Lagadapati, he went into the house and shut the doors on the police. Tension is prevailing in Anumanchipalli.
Lagadapati who spoke to the police through the window, expressed anger at them. The MP who was seen without a shirt as he might have just emerged from the bath, questioned the police how they could enter a private property. Asking them if they came to arrest him, he enquired if they had a warrant. He told them if they do not leave the private property immediately, he would initiate action against them.
Unable to decide what to do, police withdrew from the compound, but surrounded it, literally placing the MP under house arrest.Meanwhile TDP workers and leaders reached Garikapadu in large numbers to welcome Naidu to Krishna district.
