Six held for gang-raping tribal woman in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Six people were arrested Monday for gang-raping a married tribal woman in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, police said.
The woman was sexually assaulted when she went to a river bank at the district headquarters town of Baripada, about 270 km Bhubaneswar, along with her husband Sunday night.
Two men forcibly raped the woman first after beating up her husband, and four others joined the attackers later and raped her one after another in the presence of her husband, Additional Superintendent of Police B.K. Aich told IANS.
The woman, who hails from a nearby village, had come to Baripada town to attend to her brother who has been undergoing treatment in the district headquarters hospital, he said.
Two of the six ttackers were hospital workers, he said.
