Special Status - A Closed Chapter: MLA Akula Satyanarayana

BJP Legislator Akula Satyanarayana dared to say Special Category Status is now a closed chapter. He stressed Centre is willing to offer beyond the benefits AP would receive from Special Status in the form of Special Assistance.

Mr.Satyanarayana alleged Congress and YSR Congress have been misleading the people with baseless allegations. He opined people lost faith in the Opposition Parties.

In the felicitation ceremony at Vijayawada, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu told people of AP have responded positively to the Special Package announced by the Centre. He clarified Special Status was accorded to the states which lacked resources for development, such as Nagaland, Mizoram, Assam, Sikkim and Jammu Kashmir. 'Had if AP was bifurcated in 1972, The situation would have been quite different Today,' he said.

Taking a dig at critics who alleged he isn't fit for electoral politics, Venkaiah Naidu informed he withstood Indira Gandhi and NTR wave. 'In 1978, Congress won 10 out of 11 seats in Nellore district. Again in 1983, TDP bagged 10 out of 11 seats. It was BJP which won the remaining seat in both these occasions,' points out the Minister.
