Sunanda Pushkar murder case: Lidocaine overdose lead to death, says FBI report

The FBI report on Sunanda Pushkar's murder said that she died due to an overdose of Lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, reports a leading news channel.

As per the report, Lidocaine, an antiarrhythmic drug of heart can lead to death when given intravenously.

The report dated November 10, 2015 is based on viscera samples of Sunanda Pushkar and says that there were 15 injuries 12 hours before her death and an injection mark on her body needed to be investigated.

The AIIMS report, however says that Pushkar had died due to anti-anxiety drug Alprax.

BJP member Subramanian Swamy claimed that the FBI found the presence of heart arrest injectable poison Lidocaine in the body of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of former Union minister and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. He questioned Delhi Police Chief BS Bassi that why he was silent about the matter and did not reveal it to the media.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar died on January 17, 2014.

The Delhi Police which filed a murder case last year had sent her viscera sample to FBI in Washington after receiving the AIIMS report.
