Chennai: Now it’s time for Dhanush to rejoice as a producer. Kaaka Muttai, which is directed by debutant Manikandan, and jointly produced by Dhanush (Wunderbar Films) and Vetrimaaran (Grass Root Film Company) is all set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, being held from September 4 to 12.

The film has Aishwarya of Pannaiyaram Padminiyum fame, playing a pivotal role. Manikandan, who is delighted about the screening, says, “The film deals with the life of two kids and is set in the backdrop of a slum. There are no leads in the film as the entire script revolves around the kids. Aishwarya plays a crucial role. STR also plays an important cameo.”

Other Tamil films that have been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival include Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar, Kannathil Muthamittal and Suseenthiran’s Azhagar Saamiyin Kuthirai.
