One of the most popular lyricists in Tamil, Thamarai, is on a hunger strike as a protest to find her missing husband Thiyagu. Thamarai is famous for her songs in most of Gautham Menon's films like Cheli, Ye Maya Chesave, Surya S/O Krishnan and the recent Yennai Arindhaal. Apart from Gautham Menon, Thamarai is also one of AR Rahman's favorite lyricists.

Reports from the Tamil media circles say that the lyricist and her husband have been having problems for the last two years. Couple of months ago, her husband Thiyagu informed Thamarai that he will never see her in his life and went missing since then. Vexed after waiting for her husband's return, Thamarai finally decided to go on a hunger strike at Thiyagu's house along with her son.

The lyricist who loves to write in chaste Tamil also won two Filmfare awards for her songs in the Tamil versions of Ye Maya Chesave and Surya S/O Krishnan. Let us hope that her story will see a happy ending.
