South India's biggest director Shankar teamed up with Vikram and gave the fans a mega visual effects treat with I. the film was released for Pongal amidst heavy expectations but fizzled out very in Telugu. Bought for a whopping 34 crores, the film was a loss venture for many areas' buyers in Telugu. However, the film's Tamil version tells a totally opposite story.

The Tamil version of I has finished its 50 day run recently and stood as the first genuine blockbuster of the year in Tamil Nadu, Rest of India and even in abroad. In North America, the film stood at 3rd position in the all-time highest grossing films, next only to Shankar's two other films Robo and Shivaji. As per the Tamil trade pundits, I has grossed around 100 crores, making it a biggest blockbuster.

In comparision, Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal in the direction of Gautham Menon collected over 75 crores while Dhanush's latest hit Anegan has hit the 50 crore milestone and is racing towards becoming the biggest hit in his career. By beating both these super hits by a large margin, I has once again reiterated Shankar's popularity couple with Vikram astonishing acting skills and Rahman music.
