Story:


Uthama Villain starts in an ordinary fashion and with an interesting scene between Kamal Haasan and K Balachander.  The story of Uthama Villain jumps between both the eras of 8th century and 21st century with different incidents on both sides.

Manoranjan suffers from brain tumour and struggles hard for his life as he was in the fourth stage of tumour. Manoranjan asks his mentor KB Balachander to direct a movie for him since he has less time of lifespan.

So, KB Balachander agrees to do a movie with him titled ‘Uthama Villain’. This story is about the street performance which happened in 1900.

What happens to Manoranjan? What is the past life of him? Forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Kamal Haasan has once again proved his versatility. He proves what a fine performer he is in every role. Actor Nassar is at his best and excelled in his performance. He has given tough competition to Kamal. K Balachander delivered natural performance which is close to reality.

Pooja Kumar, Parvathy Menon and Andrea look beautiful and they developed in the acting wise. Uravshi is best suited for Kamal’s wife role.

Plus Points:

Kamal Haasan’s outstanding performance as a folk artist and superstar is the first reason to watch the film. K B Balachander’s presence is the highlight of the movie. Cinematography is nice. BGM is awesome.

Minus Points:

Long run time of Uttama Villain tests the patience of audiences.

Analysis:

This movie shows the struggles of an artiste to be the best among their competitors. Uthama Villain is an immortal classic. A highly emotional film with stellar cinematography and music. Everlasting masterpiece from Kamal Haasan and Ramesh Aravind. If you are connected with the film, your eyes will surely fill with tears!

Verdict:


A perfect tribute by Kamal Haasan to his guru K.Balachander Sir!
