Delhi gang rape victim's picture upload: Kerala Police contacts Facebook over fake upload
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state hi-tech crime inquiry cell has sent a request to Facebook to provide details of the account from which the photograph of a Kerala girl was uploaded claiming that she was Nirbhaya.
The cell has registered a case on the basis of an email complaint it received on Tuesday from a person who claimed to be an acquaintance of the girl shown in the photograph. Cell deputy superintendent R Vinayakumaran Nair said an action could be taken only after getting a response from Facebook.
He said the complaint was sent from the email id of a person who introduced himself as Rajesh from Kuwait. He claimed that he knew the girl shown on the photograph as she was a relative of one of his friends.
"The complainant contacted us again on Wednesday over phone and we have asked him to tell the girl to forward a complaint herself to the nearest police station so that the complaint holds strength," the DSP said.
