Delhi ventilator snag: Death toll rises to 5
The death toll has risen to five after another patient died on Wednesday in a Delhi government hospital due to medical negligence after the oxygen supply was cut off while carrying out repair work.
An FIR has been filed in the case. The Delhi government also set up a special panel to probe the mishap and what led to the death.
Hapless relatives of the deceased blamed the hospital authorities for the negligence but the hospital has passed the buck. However, the authorities blamed the contractor for leaving only one untrained person in charge of the oxygen supply instead of the stipulated three people. The hospital authorities also said that only one cylinder, instead of 10 oxygen cylinders, was connected.
