Punjab: 7 men abduct 24-yr-old from bus, rape her through the night; police arrest 5
Chandigarh: The Punjab police on Saturday arrested five men in connection with the alleged gangrape of a 24-year-old woman in Gurdaspur district. According to the police, seven men had raped the woman on Friday night after abducting her from a bus in which they were all travelling.
A case has been registered against the seven and two of them are on the run, the police said.
The police said that the woman, who is married, was on her way from her family home in Pathankot to her husband's house in Gurdaspur and had boarded a minibus. The accused were on the bus. According to sources, the men took the woman to an isolated spot and raped her.
Those arrested include the driver and the conductor of the bus, the police said.
