Who is the number one hero of Telugu Film Industry? After Megastar Chiranjeevi's exit from the seat, due to his vested political interests, this question gets tougher to be answered. If someone wants to prove it by box-office collections, then their quest for an answer will be ended today.
If we compare the recent releases of all big heroes and their hyped films, an interesting note can be made. Sans the big airs around them for being stars, all the heroes irrespective of their stardom, fan base and hype-hoopla with publicity, have minted near or less same figures.
Way back in Dasara season last year, we have Mahesh Babu's Aagadu and Ram Charan's Govindudu Andarivadele released. Mahesh's movie generated flop talk on day one itself, while Charan carried forward with mixed talk. How much these two collected in the initial 3 days of release? Aagadu amassed 16.6 crores and Govindudu pocketed 16 crores. Moving on, we have Pawan-Venky's Gopala Gopala releasing for Sankranthi 2015 and Jr NTR's Temper taking on box office in February. The God and devotee's film took 15.9 crores in first 3 days, as Puri's cop drama managed to collect 16.7 crores.
Allu Arjun's S/o Satyamurthy is the biggest release of summer so far. How much it collected from Thursday to Saturday? No mind boggling figures. It's just 16.6 crores. So, it could be rounded off that 16 crores is the common figure any star hero could ring on, despite the stars give by reviewers or mouth talk spread. In that case we have to say, finally figures of a movie will be large and magnanimous only if audiences like the film, but not due to presence of particular star.
There might be differences in the profit distributors take home, but box office potential of all these so called bigger stars in Andhra and Telangana needs to be same. Is it not the time to say, all stars are equal? They are, if box-office is the scale.
