Producer Sai Korrapati, has been associated with some meaningful films in the past. His latest presentation is the village drama Tungabhadra which has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
The story of the film is based on the lives of two faction groups in the Karlapoodi village of Guntur district. Sivaramakrsihna(Satyaraj) heads one group and always faces opposition from Trimurthulu(Chalapathi Rao) and his sons. On the other hand, Srinu(Adith) is an aggressive young disciple of Sivaramakrishna who falls in love with his daughter Gauri(Dimple Chopde).
Twist in the tale arises when Sivaramkrishna comes to know about his daughter’s love affair. This is also the time when the enemy group decide to attack Sivaramakrishna. Rest of the story is as to how Gauri and Srinu’s love affair survives all these troubles, and what happens to the gang wars in the village.
Performances:
Adith Arun made his debut back in 2009 with a critically acclaimed film, Katha along side Genelia D souza. The film bombed at the box office and has failed to fetch any offers for him. But wait! what a come back, he has delivered a matured performance in Tungabhadra and has managed to prove his mettle.
Dimple Chopade, though has appeared in couple of films before, only this film has offered her to showcase her acting skills. Sathyaraj has become the backbone of the film and pulled it off with his natural self. Sapthagiri, Dhanaraj, Jabardasth Srinu and lot of other comedians struggled to fill in some laughs in an otherwise boring film.
Plus Points:
Satyaraj
Adith’s matured performance
Camera work
Minus Points:
Bad execution of the movie
Forcible comedy scenes
Songs
Technical Aspects:
Tungabhadra is directed by a new comer, Srinivas Krishna Gogineni. Though he has tried hard to portray the film as an intense political drama with a sensible love story, the screen play and the script he has written for it cheated on him. He was good in the execution part as a director.
The story gets too predictable in the second half and the routine scenes tests your patience. The forcible comedy in between the serious scenes spoiled the entire tempo of the film.
Music Director Hari Goura, another new bee on the block, was more than amazing with his work. He succeeded in maintaining the mood of the film with his acute music. But some of the song placements in the film comes as a bumps in the road. Camera work was commendable in the songs.
Verdict:
On the whole, Tungabhadra is a below par product from the house of Vaarahi. A decent first half, some comedy scenes and a emotional climax are some assets. On the flip side, a routine story, lag in narration and predictable story line spoils the mood of the film. All those who like rustic village dramas can give this film a shot.
