July 10th and 17th are the two big dates that led to cinema folks now fighting on social circuits. Former date marks the release of "Baahubali" while the latter one has "Srimanthudu" coming up.
With just 1 week between the two biggies, surely one will eat up the collection of others at the box office. As "Baahubali" is a 250 crore magnum opus, some trade pundits opine that it's better "Srimanthudu" shifts its date. But Mahesh fixed on July 17th months back, so why would he back step? Trade pundits have other reasons to talk about.
Baahubali is fixed for July 10th not just in Tollywood, but in other regions too. Including Telugu version, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and other foreign language versions will also see the movie's release on same day. Coming to "Srimanthudu", the film will be released only in Telugu version any where on the globe. So, it doesn't matter when it arrives, but when it comes Mahesh Babu will storm box office with his tremendous crowd pulling potential.
However, if Baahubali has to moved to another date then the whole of August and September are not available for Hindi and Tamil versions. Many films from Hollywood like Mission Impossible and Phantom are also making to theatres in same time. In Bollywood we have biggies like Bajrangi Bhaijan and Welcome Back coming up while Tamil audiences have Maari and Thala56 gearing up for release in next two months. All these indicate that Baahubali will fail to get a date in other languages if it shifts from July 10th.
On other hand, "Srimanthudu" could adjust its date to another new date only by considering the huge budgets involved in Baahubali making. For now Srimanthudu is fixed for July 17th only. We have to see if there will be any last minute changes.
