February 7th saw two releases that have created immense interest among movie lovers.

Bollywood saw the release of director R Balki's Shamitabh on that day, which features two superstars Amitabh Bachhan and Danush in the leads. On the other hand, we have seen Gautham Menon's Yennai Arindaal hitting cinemas with huge hype as it features Thala Ajith in the lead. And guess what happened to these movies at box office.

Forget the reviews and critical opinions on these films because both should have huge openings on day one due to their mere star power. Surprisingly, Ajith's mass fans have outlawed the combined strength of Amitabh and Danush at box office. Though one is Tamil and other one is Hindi flick, the box office figures are a shocking find.

Shamitabh managed to collect nearly 3.5 crores nett in India as the flick opened to a dismal start. However, Ajith scored a surprise by amassing 11.5 crores gross (8 crores nett) on first day though mixed reviews hampered chances from evening shows. Content of both the films turns out to be dismal, but star power is what it matters.
