In a brief chit chat with Lipika Varma……  Nishi reveals a secret –since one of his Tamil film starring Shruti Haasan got shelved he always wished to cast her in his film. He talks about Ajay in an emotional avatar in Drishyam also refuses to give any marks to John out of ten for he is a good performer…..Nishi will soon be seen directing Telugu and Tamil films after his Rocky Handsome is done and more…..

Director Nishikanth Kamath who won accolades for his début film, Dombivili fast in 2006 is coming back with a remake film Drishyam starring Ajay Devgan. He went on to remake his own film Dombvili Fast in Tamil with Madhavan in the lead, the film is titled Evano Oruvan. With John Abraham in, Force too happens to be a remake of Tamil film Kaakha Kaakha. Looks like Nishikanth’s name is synonymous with Remakes. Nishi’s long awaited wish of working with Shruti Haasan seems to be fulfilled with Rocky Handsome featuring John Abraham in the male lead.

However ask him why he always remakes, are there dearth of good original scripts? Pat comes the reply, "Remakes will have only the story line and an outer structure but we have to rewrite the entire screen play. I do not feel there is any dearth of writers but they are not being tapped. India has loads of talented writers .We need to tap them but the million dollar question is who will bridge the gap?"

Well! Nishikanth claims Ajay will be seen in a never before seen avatar. "Ajay accepted this role instantly, I was very happy about it. This role will see Ajay in an emotional and a very sensitive avatar. It would not be too much if I say Ajay has done a fabulous performance as this is not the usual madh dadh kind of a film. He has exuberantly showcased his emotional side too this time.”

Nishikanath is very happy to have cast Shruti Haasan in, Rocky Handsome. This film again is an adaptation of a Korean film, The Man From Nowhere. …revealing a secret he says, "Yes! Actually my debut Tamil film which was to be made with Shruti Haasan in the lead six years before could not happen. Since then I always wanted to cast Shruti in my film provided the role suited her so I just dialed her number and informed about the role. She happily agreed to do this film.”

About his rapport with John: Definitely, when you work in association with actors and technicians we do share a comfort zone and thus we chose to work with people with whom we can give great output. Smiles and adds, "What do I say about giving marks out of a ten to John for his performance. He is a fine actor I do not believe in marking though!” he adds

Nishi is open to directing Telugu, Tamil films and has no language hiccups. He agrees, "I will surely be directing Tamil and Telugu films soon. At the moment I am busy with the release of Drishyam and my under production flick Rocky Handsome.
