Maruthi has produced some of the best youth entertainers like Ee Rojullo, Bus Stop and Prema Katha Chitram under the banner of Maruthi Media House. Although those films were small budget movies, he has proved successful in impressing youth. The success of the films had soared up the viewers expectations for his latest presentation Romance to sky high. It will surely meet all those expectations.

As its title suggests, the film Romance belongs to the romantic genre with lot of comedy and other commercial ingredients. Prince's performance and Darling fame Swamy's interesting screenplay and funny dialogues are going to the main highlights in the film. Sai Karthik's music, Prabhakar Reddy's camera work, Dimple's glamour, beautiful locales, costumes, makeup and art direction are the other attractions in the movie.

Like Ee Rojullo and Bus Stop, Romance is also set in the backdrop of a colleges, and deals with the same theme of youth taking love to sex, and girls using boys as a sources of pocket money. But some of the incidents seems to inspired by real life and youth can relate them with their own life. The treatment of subject is fresh, interesting, rich and colourful.

Story:

Movie story begins with Krishna (prince) narrating his love story to a rowdy. Krishna wants to fall in love with a girl who is a virgin and not had any boyfriends before. He comes across Lalitha (manasa) and has an affair with her but one night with her makes him discover her true nature and he breaks up with her. Then he meets Anuradha (dimple) and she seems to fit the bill. But Anuradha discovers about Krishna’s affair with Lalitha and she breaks up. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Prince's Performance In Romance After Bus Stop, Prince once again has given very good performance. In fact, his acting is the centre of attraction in the film Romance. He looks at complete ease in all romantic, sentimental and comedy scenes. Especially, he will rock you with his funny acts.

Dimple & Manasa's Roles In Romance The movie Romance has two female leads played by Dimple and Manasa as Anuradha. Compared to Manasa, Dimple has large screen presence and scope for performance. Her chemistry with Prince is simply superb and a treat to watch it on screen. It will surely drive the young audience crazy towards theatres.

Supporting Cast In Romance Venu Madhav and Sai try their best to tickle your funny bones. Others have also done justice to their respective roles.

Technical Departments:

Swamy's Direction Darling fame writer Swamy, who is turning director with Romance, has tried his best to prove his mettle. He has complete grip over the temp of the film. Besides direction, he has also handle departments like story, screenplay and dialogue and done justice to them. His dialogues are funny and have a punch.

Sai Karthik's Music In Romance Romance has excellent production values and Sai Karthik's music, which has alreadybecome chartbuster, is the main attraction in the technical front. All his soundtracks are melodious and good to listen. His background score is also good and helps the director to elevate the intensity of several emotional and sentimental scenes in the film.Prabhakar Reddy's Cinematography J Prabhakar Reddy's picturisation is
another big attraction in Romance.

The cinematographer has done brilliant work in song sequences, which are going to be visual treat. Other Technical Departments Departments like .Editing could have been better.

Analysis:

I think in the process of making quick money and easy money,Maruthi has targeted youth and coming up with the routine stories of boys falling behind girls etc.The theme is same in all of their movies but they are choosing different ways to explain.This one will fall flat as there is no such entertainment.

The story line is quite routine and the narration is normal.Swamy could not able to do justice to this youthfull concept.Everybody is aware that people will revolve around LOVE and tries to find someone to get closer in their life.But the concept of entertainment flavor is very pale in this movie.The other factor is budgets.Since this is a low budget movie,the artists and other locations are very normal.

There are few instances where the punch dialogues and comedy is good.Hero staying in the Ladies hostel for a week is quite bullshit.The whole 2nd half revolves around the ladies hostel and the girls seducing hero to touch them is very irritating.

It is one thing to come up with an adult comedy which is entertaining and another thing to come up with only adult comedy and no storyline without head or tail. In this film, the total focus was on giving double meaning dialogues and the very concept of projecting a relationship was done in a very nasty way. Weak screenplay and directionless direction undid the film. Most of the film tested the patience of viewers.

Final Word: Overall Romance is Just O K Film. It should have been a much better piece if the budget is a bit more and some concentration is kept on the story and screen play...At the box office, success is doubtful.
