Crime branch team probing Paravoor sex scam arrested Ranjith Rajan (30), a non-resident Indian who was absconding for the past four years. Ranjith had raped the survivor along with two of his friends at a resort in Munnar in 2009. Though the investigation team could trace the two accomplices, Ranjith was absconding since 2009.
The team said that Ranjith left for Muscat following the arrest of other accused in the case. "We had issued lookout notice against Ranjith to all airports in India to arrest him on arrival. The arrest was made as we got a tip off that Ranjith was returning to his home town from Muscat via Dubai. Crime branch had informed all airports about the arrival of the accused," said crime branch DSP Biju K Stephen. A police team comprising crime branch sub-inspector M G Ramachandran and officers T M Aneesh and Anuraj nabbed him from Chennai airport.
