CRDA comes into being as AP names capital villages

Government of AP issued notification on Tuesday naming the villages falling under the jurisdiction of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).

With the notification, the AP Capital Region Development Authority Act, 2014 came into force from Tuesday.

The region, extending up to an area of 7068 square km, would consist of a Capital City in an area of 122 sq. km.

After the Governor ESL Narasimhan signed the Act on Monday, notification was published in the Extraordinary issue of the Andhra Pradesh Gazette.

As the CRDA came into being, the Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority has ceased to exist with immediate effect. While Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will act as its Chairman, Municipal Administration Minister Narayana will be the vice-chairman of CRDA.

The government had also issued a separate notification constituting a 3-member executive committee for the Capital Region Development  Authority with Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development department as Chairman, Principal Secretary, Finance Department (Member) and Commissioner, Capital Region Development Authority as Member-Convener.
