Hyderabad records rise in highest number of new voters
HYDERABAD: With several new colonies mushrooming in surrounding areas of the city, there is a steep rise in voters in surrounding assembly segments.
Over three lakh new voters have been added in the Assembly constituencies in Greater Hyderabad in the latest revision of electoral rolls, which concluded on January 15.
Qutubullapur, LB Nagar, Medchal, Uppal, Serilingampally and Rajendranagar Assembly segments recorded the maximum number of new voters in Ranga Reddy district. In Hyderabad district, nearly 12,000 new voters were added in the Jubilee Hills Assembly segment.
District election officers of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy released draft electoral rolls on October 1, 2012, and had taken up summary revision of electoral rolls.
The final draft was published on January 15, 2013. The total number of voters in Hyderabad district (15 constituencies) rose to 31,59,231 from 30,46,778 in October, 2012. Similarly, in the 14 Assembly segments of Ranga Reddy district, the electorate increased to 42,59,388 from 39,94,850, logged in the draft notification issued earlier.
LB Nagar recorded the highest number of voters in surrounding areas with 4,42,704 voters and Rajendranagar the least with only 2,85,201 voters.
The highest number of new voters, 43,284 (11.36% increase), was recorded at Qutubullapur constituency during the revision followed by LB Nagar at 39,181 voters (9.71%). The other constituencies like Serilingampally (27,831 new voters), Medchal (25,733), Uppal (24,262) and Malkajgiri (19,648) were included in the final list of electoral rolls. Interestingly, Kukatpally segment, which is one of the densely populated areas in the surrounding areas, has recorded just 4.07% growth with 15,777 new electors registered in the constituency, while Maheswaram recorded 16,742 new voters.
With regard to Hyderabad district, the increase in total voters was 1,12,453 and the highest new voters was recorded in the Jubilee Hills constituency, where the number of electors rose to 2,41,068 from 2,29,191 voters.
Officials said in the draft electoral roll, Musheerabad constituency stood on top in terms of highest number of voters 2,23,655 and after revision it has 2,30,378 voters. On the other hand, the Charminar Assembly segment has the lowest number of voters at 1,55,432.
Officials said that the new voter's list has been posted on the website www.ceoandhra.nic.in and voters could verify their names and other details.
