Hyderabad: Is Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ESL Narasimhan on his way out? This speculation gained ground on Thursday with his own remark while addressing a meeting here. While addressing the pharma meeting, Narasimhan said the corporate medicare sector was fleecing the common man.
“Ever since he became the Governor in 2009, he said he has been advocating that the medicare in the private sector be brought within the reach of common man but no one acted upon his suggestions all these years,” he said, adding: “Soon I will be a common man.”
According to political circles, this was a clear indication that the change of Governor is on the cards and Narasimhan would not have made such a comment even in lighter vein unless he had some clear indication from the Centre. However, sources in the Raj Bhavan say that the media was reading too much into what the Governor had said.
When asked, TDP leaders like E Dayakar Rao said that if he had said so it definitely meant that he had some clear indications from the Centre. It may be recalled that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had represented to the Centre many at time that the Governor was acting in favour of Telangana and was not using his powers as per the AP State Reorganisation Act to resolve the interstate problems.
AP leaders have also been demanding a change of the Governor. This demand was intensified after the cash-for-vote scam and the alleged phone-tapping incident came to light.
