India-England 1st Test could get cancelled

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) approached Supreme Court for the release of funds for the first Test match between India and England at Rajkot, starting from November 9th. It informed the court about the possibility of cancellation of the Test Match if funds weren't released. Supreme Court will hear the petition Today.

Earlier, Supreme Court asked BCCI not to release the funds to State Association without prior permission of Lodha Panel.

In October this year, Supreme Court warned BCCI, Its president Anurag Thakur and General Manager Ratnakar Shetty for not implementing the recommendation of Justice RM Lodha Committee. An order was passed restricting disbursement of funds to State Associations until they abide by the recommendations of Lodha Panel.

England will be playing five tests during the ongoing tour of India. For the first time, India will be using DRS, something which it kept opposing, in the Test Match.
