About 16 people were killed and more than 40 people were injured in a road accident at Penukonda- Madakasira road in Ananthapur district.

The injured were rushed to Hindupur and Bengaluru hospitals. Hindupur MLA and actor Balakrishna has been saddened with the unfortunate incident and conveyed his condolences the families of the deceased.

He promised that he will see the government help the victims and also announced that he will contribute some amount to the victims. He said that he talked with the doctors in Hindupur and asked them to provide the best treatment to the injured

YS Jagan, the president of YSR Congress party was grief stricken on hearing the news of the APSRTC bus tragedy in Penukonda of Anantapur district.

Jagan said it was sad that the mishap claimed the lives of innocent students who formed a majority of those who died in the mishap. He demanded the Andhra Pradesh government to offer required support to the families of the victims.

Andhra pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu responded on Penukonda Road Accident.

Speaking in a press meet, Chief Minister stated that the Govenmnent would provide a compensation of Rs.5 lakhs to the dead, Rs. 2 lakhs to the severely injured and Rs. one lakh to the injured.

APSRTC Bus number AP28 Z 1053 met with a major Road accident this morning when the Bus fell into a valley. The APSRTC bus was on the way to Madakasira from Penukonda.

About 14 passengers are reported to be dead of which majority of them are students. 24 passengers are reported to be severely injured.

10:20 am Reason behind the Road Accident

As per the reports, the driver of the palle velugu APSRTC bus tried to divert the bus in order to escape the Auto coming from the opposite direction. In the process, the bus fell into the valley.About 60 passengers are reported to be travelling in the bus during the accident. The injured are shifted to the hospitals in Bangalore and Hindupur.

10:00 am About 12 passengers are reported to be dead of which majority of them are students. 24 passengers are reported to be severely injured.
