The sexual harassment case of The Energy and Resources Institute Director-General R.K Pachauri reached the High Court on Tuesday with the complainant seeking cancellation of his anticipatory bail granted by a lower court in the interest of a free and fair investigation.

The High Court has asked Prof. Pachauri to file a reply on Wednesday as to why the stay on his arrest should not be withdrawn.

Prof. Pachauri is facing charges of stalking and criminal intimidation in addition to sexual harassment.

The Delhi police have also been asked to file a status report on whether action had been taken on the complainant’s charge that a proper investigation would not be possible if Prof. Pachauri was allowed bail.

The complainant is a research student in the university and through her lawyer, she alleged that Prof. Pachauri had been dictating what was to be said to the witnesses and that there was overwhelming evidence to point out that he had misused his bail conditions.
